We are grateful to Mr. Bjorn Borgen for his philanthropic support for the 2026 SPRI-Borgen (Steadman Philippon Research Institute-Borgen) IOC Research Centre Training and Career Development Travel Award Program (PhD Student/Postdoc/Research Fellow) to continue the success of the 2-year IOC Research Training and Career Development travel award opportunity.
The SPRI-Borgen IOC Research Centre Training and Career Development Travel Award Program will help trainees (PhD Student/Postdoc/Research Fellow) foster new and diverse geographical and research perspectives, develop new skills, facilitate mentorship opportunities, and promote collaborations. IOC Research Centres willing to host a visiting PhD student/postdoc/fellow will propose broad areas of research for engagement of a visiting PhD student/postdoc/research fellow. Training activities may include collaboration in a new project, peer-to-peer opportunities with fellow students/postdocs/research fellows, research team and mentorship meetings, research skill training, and social and networking opportunities. A final report is required following trainee travel. Trainees are encouraged to share abstract, peer-review manuscript, and conference presentation outcomes associated with their international visit. The IOC Training and Career Development Trainee Network will also provide an opportunity for all awardees to present in an online seminar format.
The visiting PhD Student/Postdoc/Research Fellow program is limited to PhD students/Postdocs/Research fellows who are currently supervised by a researcher at one of the 11 IOC Research Centres and must be hosted by a researcher at one of the IOC Research Centres, with a proposed visit duration of 4-8 weeks. Applications are limited to one PhD Student/Postdoc/Research Fellow supervised currently by an individual researcher.
