Training Steps

UCalgary requires that all volunteers are managed under the Volunteer Registration and Management System. This includes registering volunteers on Better Impact; and adhering to a collection of standardized processes.

We have focused this training program on the tasks necessary for meeting legislative compliance. Please follow the steps in the order they are presented.

To get the most out of the VRMS training, you should have administrator access to a Better Impact account before starting. If your department/program does not already have a Better Impact account, please submit a request. Otherwise, ask your account's Dept Admin to arrange for this access.

After reviewing the video tutorials, join us on Zoom any 2nd or 4th Tuesday morning, from 9:30 to 11:00 for help with your questions, or assistance with your specific situation. Basic Training: VRMS and Better Impact

All volunteer coordinators, that are responsible for managing volunteers at UCalgary, should review the three basic training videos in the order they are presented. These courses include legislative requirements, standard processes, and the basic system functions for registering and managing volunteers in the Better Impact system.

Supporting documents containing context and step-by-step instructions for the respective video can be downloaded from Step 2 under Training Steps above.

Better Impact has recently upgraded their software and re-designed the administrator interface. Our training videos below, do not yet reflect the new interface. We will be updating our training videos soon but, until then, please refer to Better Impact's tutorials to correlate the step-by-step instructions.
