About Teaching and Learning
With the development of the 2012-17 Eyes High strategy, UCalgary embarked on an ambitious journey to enrich the quality and breadth of learning on campus. In 2012, the inaugural Vice-Provost (Teaching and Learning) was appointed and in 2016, the Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning was formally opened. The 2017-22 Eyes High Strategy and 2018-23 Academic and Research Plans continue this prioritization of excellence in teaching and learning on campus.
The Vice-Provost (Teaching and Learning) provides strategic teaching and learning leadership and vision, working with faculties, units and departments across campus. The VPTL also oversees the operationalization of the Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning and serves on a number of committees that support teaching and learning initiatives and increase the awareness of teaching excellence across campus. These include the Learning Technologies Advisory Committee (LTAC); the General Faculties Council, Teaching and Learning Committee (GFC/TLC); and the Teaching and Learning Leaders Network (TLLN), among others.
