Sponsor a PaCER team

The Alberta Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (AbSPORU) Patient Engagement Team provides support and academic oversight to PaCER teams and projects. The program is delivered by UCalgary Continuing Education.

What PaCER researchers do

During the one-year PaCER program learners gain essential research knowledge and skills and us the specific PaCER methodology to develop, design and carry out a project related to your research program.

Your role as a Sponsor

  • Provide a research topic for your team and receive a final report at the conclusion of the program.
  • Provide specific contextual information to the team on your behalf throughout the 3 courses and support the recruitment of patient researchers (team) and patient and community members.
  • Use results from the study to inform future research priorities or to provide evidence to change health care practice, planning or policy.

Why get involved

By sponsoring a team, you:

  • Contribute to continued inclusion of patient perspective in health research and the health care system
  • Enable community involvement and community knowledge translation among patient and community groups
  • Develop patient capacity for involvement in future research and quality improvement efforts
  • Receive a PaCER student authored research report
