Biography

I am a 3rd year Science student majoring in Cellular, Molecular and Microbial Biology with a specialization in Cell Biology. I am passionate about all things medicine and have been for most of my life which is why I plan to pursue a career in psychiatry. In line with my interests in psychiatry, I have chosen to pursue a minor in psychology which has been extremely fulfilling thus far. Recently though, through some volunteer research I did in my first year I found that I was passionate about Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) specifically in the medical world and how it is so embedded in the field from the education all the way to the practice. How it is detrimental to the education of medical students and furthermore bleeds into the treatment of patients. This new passion of mine is something I hope to incorporate into my studies and career one day although I am not sure yet how I am going to do so, but I do believe it will be very interesting understanding how it will play out. I am exciting to see how I will incorporate these various aspects of my interests into not only my education, but my extracurricular work and my future career as well.
