Biography

“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” — Maya Angelou

Oyinda is a third-year Biomedical Sciences student with a passion for health research. She has been involved in several research projects, including a scoping review aimed at understanding the education given to women post-abdominal surgery; an environmental scan of potential semi-automation methods for a NICU quality improvement project; and a literature review of alpha and beta testing methods used in digital health care software. She hopes to continue developing her research skills through her course and extracurricular work.

While working as a research assistant and being a full-time student, Oyinda is also involved with the Health Sciences Students’ Association (HSSA) and the Women in Sciences and Engineering (WISE) club on campus. Her community connections extend off-campus as a regular volunteer at the Women’s Centre of Calgary. Some of her hobbies include reading and fiber arts such as knitting and crocheting. She is also an aspiring half-marathoner and loves to be outdoors.

Oyinda hopes to continue to develop as a leader, community member, and life-long learner throughout her time in university.
