UCalgary Nursing alumna Meg Omand, BN'17, in Haida Gwaii.

UCalgary Nursing alumna Meg Omand continues her interest in international health with her recent sojourn to Kampala Uganda to help out with the Uganda EMS Pilot Project. Phase 1 of this project took place in February and involved teaching 40 non-physician health-care workers the basics of assessment and treatment at the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) level.

While completing her BN program at UCalgary, Omand took advantage of the student exchange program to the University of Calgary-Qatar in 2016.  Since graduating, she has been working in Haida Gwaii, British Columbia at their hospital where her work covers the lifespan in ER, acute medicine and long-term care. She was also recently hired as an EMR with BC Ambulance.
