Schulich students get jostled
and bounced competing in
Baja SAE event

A team of Schulich School of Engineering students was in Oregon from May 8 to 10 to put to the test a vehicle they built for the Baja SAE collegiate design competition. Teams from across Canada and the United States took part in contests in hill climbing, maneuverability, acceleration, rock crawling and an endurance test.

“We placed 35th out of 99 teams in the endurance competition. That’s very good, considering the quality of the competition and the harsh terrain,” said U of C Baja team leader Alex Mazepa.

The Baja SAE team is one of several student clubs based at the Schulich School of Engineering that take part in regular competitions hosted by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
