UToday HomeApril 18, 2012

The Calgary Youth Science Fair will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year with a new location at the University of Calgary's Olympic Oval. The university is a proud sponsor of this year's event, moving the fair to its new home, reflecting a new partnership with the University of Calgary.

The science fair is organized by the Calgary Youth Science Fair Society to encourage and promote ongoing interest in science. The Board of Directors is comprised of volunteers representing the business, scientific, and education communities of Calgary. Every year approximately 1000 students from schools in and around Calgary compete to take part in Canada's largest regional science fair.

Students will set up their exhibits April 18, and participate in a full day of judging April 20. On Saturday, April 21, the fair will be open to the public to view the projects and check out the fun and interactive Beakerhead activities. Activities will include a VJ & DJ Booth, TagBot, LED Graffiti Interactive street art, flying robots and a mutant chair.

The public is invited to attend this year's event to support and celebrate 50 years of the Calgary Youth Science Fair.
