The University of Calgary will confer its first honorary degree to a recipient in the field of veterinary medicine at the May convocation ceremony.

Chancellor Jim Dinning will preside over the ceremony where 310 degrees will be awarded in law, medicine, veterinary medicine and graduate studies.

The Order of the University of Calgary will also be awarded on Thursday afternoon to Marvin Fritzler. Fritzler is a distinguished alumnus, professor in the Faculty of Medicine and chairman of the Alberta Research and Innovation Authority.
