On Dec. 14, 2018, the Board of Governors approved the Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation Centre (ISIC) project, an innovative new building on campus that will continue to drive excellence in research and teaching at the University of Calgary. ISIC has been one of UCalgary’s highest priority infrastructure projects for the past five years.

Upon completion, the ISIC building will become a centralized facility for the environmental and life sciences on main campus, providing critical new spaces to advance programming and specialized research in numerous faculties, including the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Arts.

Housing research from various faculties under the same roof will also introduce transformational changes to the student experience. In addition to establishing a central location with updated lab space, students, faculty and researchers will have unique opportunities to engage in interdisciplinary learning and entrepreneurial thinking.

Further information on the ISIC project will be provided in 2019 as the design and planning phase begins.
