In memoriam: Michael Entwisle, Cumming School of Medicine

The Cumming School of Medicine is mourning the loss of professor emeritus Dr. Michael Entwisle, MD, who passed away on July 31, 2020, in Courtenay, B.C.

In 1969, Michael and his family immigrated to Calgary from London, U.K. In 1971, he joined the Department of Psychiatry in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary. During his years with the Cumming School of Medicine and Alberta Health Services (AHS), Michael was director of the Residency Training Program for psychiatry, AHS’ Adolescent Treatment Programs, and medical staff of Alberta Mental Health Services, Calgary Region. He also served on the medical school’s admissions committee and as associate director in the Department of Psychiatry at Calgary General Hospital. In 1991, Michael was appointed professor emeritus and was a member of the university’s Emeriti Association from 1995 until the time of his passing.

Michael will be greatly missed by his friends and colleagues and will be remembered for his gentle demeanour and determination.
