MacKimmie Complex and Professional Faculties Building Redevelopment project update
From April 27 to July 31, access through Swann Mall will be restricted to select pathways
As the semester draws to a close, the MacKimmie Complex and Professional Faculties Building Redevelopment project team is forging ahead with plans for spring and summer construction and landscaping in Swann Mall. Pictured above is a rendering of Swann Mall's revitalized landscape featuring region-specific trees and vegetation, and new pathways leading up to the MacKimmie Tower and Block.
"Our plan is to begin revitalizing Swann Mall in early May to avoid disrupting students and the campus community during exams," says Boris Dragicevic, associate vice-president (facilities development). "This is a continuation of work that began last summer. The landscaping work performed this summer will enable us to reopen the south side of Swann Mall, east of the MacKimmie Tower, in time for the fall semester."
Once exams are over, from April 27 to July 31, access through Swann Mall will be restricted to select pathways — on the east side of the mall leading from the Professional Faculties building along the Administration building and also a pathway running from Science A to the MacKimmie Block and link. The pathway leading from the bus loop, in between Murray Fraser Hall and Professional Faculties buildings, will be closed to all non-construction traffic.
Detours will be set up around Swann Mall during construction. New permanent pathways through the south side of Swann Mall will open once the MacKimmie Tower officially opens in August and in ample time for the fall semester. Give yourself a few extra minutes to cross campus, and be aware and respect all closures and detours.
