Free yoga classes for young adults affected by cancer

UCalgary postdoctoral scholar customizes yoga classes to help young adults with and recovering from cancer

Know of a young adult between the ages of 18 and 39 who has or is recovering from cancer? Encourage them to join free online yoga classes along with their partner, friend or family member. Open to participants across Canada.

This free, eight-week online yoga program includes gentle hatha yoga (accessible for all levels). The classes also include breathwork and techniques to promote confidence for continuing the practice after the classes wrap up. Those leading the classes have specialized training in yoga, exercise and cancer.

Why yoga? There is early evidence to suggest that young adults affected by cancer who practice yoga have better flexibility, improved range of motion, better mood, less anxiety and depression and enhanced overall quality of life.
