Human-Animal Studies and One-Health Promotion

The Human-Animal Studies and One-Health Promotion Team seeks to augment well-being for people and other animals in shared environments.

Our team is characterized by multidisciplinary membership.  Faculty members, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, undergraduate students, and visiting fellows represent diverse perspectives and bring backgrounds in anthropology, education, epidemiology, geography, law, medicine, philosophy, public health, social work, sociology, and veterinary medicine.

Our research projects explore novel approaches to promoting health in multi-species families, communities, and publics. Contributors to human-animal studies examine interactions between humans and non-human animals in diverse settings.

In emphasizing the importance of community services and public policy for mental, physical, and social well-being, our research and outreach align with the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion and with the concept of One Health.
