EMAIL from DKB 4/12/2007: The e-mail I usually get when Thoth restarts at 7AM showed an error this morning. I just wanted to let you know what I did to restart it. I suspect that thoth had probably failed in the middle of the night because the seter backup took so long (servers weren't fully restarted until almost 4AM). To get things running again, I logged in as sirsi, removed the weberver's "lock" file (/s/sirsi/Unicorn/Locks/webserver.pid) and then pasted the restart command out of the crontab: /s/sirsi/Unicorn/Bin/perl /s/sirsi/Unicorn/Bin/rmtweb.pl -p/s/sirsi/Unicorn/Config/environ -c ...................earlier email from DKB 2006?.................. Running the web catalogue on thoth separate from seter where the databases and reports reside. (Remote eLibrary) It has a daily H/I/R that is on the crontab but if it goes down then the H/I/R needs to be done as in: Log onto thoth as sirsi with production pw. type "webadmin" You will see the familiar halt/run/initialize dialogue we are use to seeing. OR use ******Shell method********* Go to /s/sirsi/Unicorn/Bin Cycle thoth (halt initialize run) by entering: perl rmtweb.pl -p/s/sirsi/Unicorn/Config/environ -c Or without going to Bin directory do: perl /s/sirsi/Unicorn/Bin/rmtweb.pl -p/s/sirsi/Unicorn/Config/environ -c or just run: perl /s/sirsi/Unicorn/Bin/rmtweb.pl -p/s/sirsi/Unicorn/Config/environ -r If you want to see various options just do: UCAP_ILINK6% perl rmtweb.pl Unicorn Remote Webcat Halt/Run Utility Started on Thu Oct 27 09:00:59 2005 Usage: perl rmtweb.pl -pExample: perl rmtweb.pl -p/s/sirsi/Unicorn/Config/environ -c cycle(halt, init, run in one step) -h halt -i initialize -m DO NOT clear sirsi message queues during init -p path to environ file(required) -r run -x display this help message ***ERROR!!: ** -p Argument required!!!!! Unicorn Remote Webcat Halt/Run Utility Finished on Thu Oct 27 09:01:00 2005 At times if -c doesn't work you may have to do -i first. NOTE: If THOTH is down, restart the seter netserver also as it and thoth are connected. If nothing works, phone the operator at 220-5445 and ask them to reboot. Note that if the thoth.lib.ucalgary.ca page doesn't appear then probably the thoth apache web server (HTTPD needs rebooting. If the page appears but is contentless, it is probably the netserver or thoth that needs rebooting.
