December 29, 2016 network outage

As part of the Information Technology (IT) team's work to further protect and maintain the university’s computer environment, there will be a full network outage Thursday, December 29 from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

The majority of campus-wide IT services will be impacted during this window, including email, internet access and VoIP phones. This outage is necessary to accommodate several security upgrades and perform important work to maintain and further protect the university environment and its systems.

This outage has been scheduled during the campus holiday closure to minimize disruption to the university. We recommend that all users save their files and shut down their computers prior to leaving for the holiday break.  Anyone that will be working during the outage period who may require access to the university network is encouraged to contact their IT Partner or email itsupport@ucalgary.ca prior to noon on December 23, 2016.

The IT Support Centre will be closed from noon on December 23, 2016 to 8:00 a.m. January 2, 2017. Emails to  itsupport@ucalgary.ca will be monitored periodically during the holiday closure. Users will be notified through the IT website and the @UCalgary Twitter account when the December 29, 2016 outage is complete and IT services are available.
