UCalgary Global Online
Expanding the imagination of Study Abroad
UCalgary Global Online (UGo) programs bring cross-cultural learning and engagement with the global community into an accessible online format. These programs combine aspects of traditional "Study Abroad" with intercultural training in the UGo student cohort, which includes both UCalgary students attending virtual programs abroad and international students studying online at UCalgary.
Opportunities for UCalgary students
As a virtual exchange student, you will have the opportunity to take online classes from UCalgary's partner universities around the world for credit towards your degree.
There are options to add 1-2 classes in your regular UCalgary courseload, or you can do a full semester courseload through another university.
UGo Groups allows UCalgary students to study online in a short-term, faculty-led study abroad program that allows students to virtually travel and earn academic credit through experiential learning. As a UGo Groups student, you will be able to choose from the UCalgary selection of online courses, participate in virtual events, and remotely interact with the local community.
Doing a virtual internship not only means that you will be working online with a company or organization in another country but may also include career counselling, business skill training, and other activities hosted by your internship provider. Some internships are for credit, and all can bolster your resume.
As a virtual research student, you will have the opportunity to work with leading researchers from UCalgary's partner universities around the world on remote placements.
World's Challenge Challenge
This innovative competition is an exciting way for UCalgary students to engage with other students from around the world to address global challenges from a wide variety of viewpoints. Students will develop their critical thinking skills, global mindset, leadership, research and presentation skills.
Global Community Challenge YYC
UCalgary has engaged International and UCalgary students to provide them with the opportunity to identify potential solutions for local organizations in the Calgary community that have an impact globally. This project is funded by the Government of Canada’s Outbound Student Mobility Pilot Program.
