CRCC Asia Internships

CRCC Asia is a leader in international internship programs. Originally focused on China-based internships, the company now works with more than a thousand companies across six countries and sends hundreds of interns abroad every year.

Over 90% of interns at CRCC get jobs in their field within three months of graduation, and about one-third of China interns are offered a job in China following their internship. You can also be placed in Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, India, or the UK, and gain experience working cross-culturally and adapting to work in new industries or environments. If working abroad is your goal, these internships are a great way to get your foot in the door!

Please note this is a non-credited internship experience. Students have occasionally been able to receive credit via Independent Study courses, however this cannot be arranged until after you receive your internship placement, and cannot be guaranteed as a possibility for all placements. CRCC also offers an "academic credit" pricing option, however this has not been approved for credit transfer by UCalgary. In general, we recommend that students do not expect or rely on receiving credit.

  1. Internships

You can choose a one, two or three month internship. Internships start once a month (please note some programs are only offered in summer) and available dates are listed by location.

You can also click here to view CRCC's master-list of internship start dates. The start date is when you are expected to arrive in your host city; CRCC will arrange airport pickup (between 8am-8pm local time) on your start date, and then typically your internship placement will begin on the following Monday.

  1. Costs

Students pay the program fees directly to CRCC Asia. Click here for price details.

There are some discounts available, for instance:

    • All students who apply through and are nominated by the University of Calgary will receive $200 USD off their program of choice!
    • If you are referred to CRCC by a friend, you may receive the "alumni rate" (10% off any program) - please check with CRCC if still valid.
  2. Funding

Since this is a non-credit bearing experience, students can apply for SU Travel and Conference funding or faculty awards like the Schulich Student Activities Fund or the Haskayne Student Experiences Fund.

Accommodation is arranged by CRCC Asia in serviced hotel apartments. It may be possible to arrange your own accommodation with some placements.

If doing the "placement only" internship option, you are required to arrange your own accommodation.

All applicants must be currently enrolled in a degree program, have completed a degree program, are in-between high school and university, or are on a gap year within a degree program.

Applicants should exhibit an interest in foreign travel/culture and be fluent in English, as all internship placements/supervisors will speak English. (If you speak a second language and would like to practice your language skills, CRCC Asia may be able to find you a company where this is possible.)

Note: You must apply directly through the CRCC Asia website.
Being nominated for this program by UCalgary will also earn you a discount on your internship fees. Let us know once you submit your CRCC application and we can confirm your nomination.

Do I have to speak another language?

No, CRCC Asia ensures that all host companies have an English-speaking supervisor who will act as your mentor and provide structure and support throughout your experience. Some colleagues will also be able to speak English in these regions.

For the programs in China, CRCC Asia provides weekly Mandarin lessons. This will give you a great opportunity to learn new language skills while in China and will help you get around the city and communicate with locals. If you can already speak Chinese and would like to brush up on your skills, CRCC Asia can help you organize your own lessons.

For programs not in China, CRCC Asia can help arrange lessons with their vetted language providers.

Where will I be placed?

You will list your top three sectors  and at your interview, CRCC will work with you to find a placement that suits you. 98% of interns are placed in their top sector. Companies are vetted by CRCC.

International travel presents challenges that may not be found when attending classes on campus. There may be a lack of resources, emergency services, hospitals, accessibility issues and/or demands on the physical and the mental self, all of which can challenge individuals when away from their usual support systems and structures. Adequate preparation is essential.

For this reason, it is imperative that you evaluate all aspects of your own physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual condition against the rigors of the particular global learning program you are selecting. If you are unsure of whether or not this program is a good fit for you and/or if you have any circumstances that could impede your enjoyment of the program, please contact us. Our Global Learning Advisors will be happy to assist in finding the best options for you and arrange any supports or accommodations necessary to ensure your success.

If you have or are seeking a certificate from Student Accessibility Services, you should provide this early to your Global Learning Advisor to ensure that the option that you are seeking can support your needs.

Please note: All participants must adhere to COVID-19 and other vaccination-related requirements for the destinations visited on this program. Failure to do so may have consequences such as being denied access to accommodation/housing, program activities, or to the host country itself.
