WISE Planet – Women in Science and Engineering for a Diverse and Sustainable Planet
The WISE Planet change leadership training aims to systematically change the recruitment, retention and advancement trends and realities of women in science and engineering. The program is a journey that encourages creative, collaborative and agile planning skills, while building the participant’s confidence to see themselves as agents of change.
In February 2023, our second cohort celebrated the successful completion of their training, while our third cohort is currently nearing the conclusion of their training. Every year, we are so pleased to have our community grow when we welcome a new cohort. In fact, this current cohort included our program’s first two male participants who have expressed a sense of pride for being a part of these critical conversations for change. Our program alumni have also begun to inquire about their possible involvement as mentors, and our sponsor organizations continue to support this vital program.
Since the program’s inception in 2021, more than 80 participants have been nominated and accepted, with a 92-per cent completion rate. This completion rate is especially impressive, considering that a number of our participants changed jobs and experienced childbirth during their participation year.
