Continuum Mechanics Continuum Mechanics, the "mother" of Solid Mechanics and Fluid Mechanics, studies matter at an observation scale much larger than the atomic scale. At such a large scale, the existence of the atomic structure can be ignored and matter can be described as a continuum. I am interested in the geometrical foundations of Continuum Mechanics for the description of complex systems.
Soft Tissue Biomechanics Mathematical modelling of the mechanical behaviour of soft biological tissue, by means of the tools of modern Continuum Mechanics. I am interested in retrieving the tissue's properties from considerations made at the micro-structural level, as well as in problems of growth, remodelling and damage of tissue.
This supervisor is currently accepting inquires.
Students with a strong background in Mathematics and Mechanics, interested in expanding their knowledge to a higher level. My funding is allocated until 2019, but I will consider student with external funding or eligible to apply for external funding.
