Ecology and evolution of plant reproduction All aspects of the ecology and evolution of flowers, with an emphasis on the performance of individual plants. Core research areas include:
Floral function and plant presentation theory - how individual flowers govern their interaction with pollinators and pollen exchange;
Floral displays and plant mating – the roles of the number and arrangement of flowers displayed simultaneously by plants on pollinator attraction and mating;
Ovule and pollen fates and plant mating - the limits on female and male reproductive success and their evolutionary consequences for the evolution of mating and sexual systems.
Given the variety of reproductive systems of flowering plants, this research seeks general principles and concepts that underlie the unity and diversity of angiosperm reproduction.
