Building Teacher Capacity in Classroom Assessment Design, development, and validation of authentic assessments to support student learning in mathematics, language arts, science,
social studies, and STEM. It includes how to design and develop assessment tools to measure 21st-century competencies. The aim
is to empower teachers to develop their designers eyes in the design, selection, and use of high-quality classroom assessments that
create equitable opportunities to intellectually engage all learners irrespective of their sociocultural backgrounds.
Teacher Assessment Literacy and Professional Development Design and Implementation of evidence-based professional development including school-based
professional learning community and summer institutes in authentic assessment and assessment for learning.
The goal is to develop teacher assessment literacy through ongoing, collaborative, and sustained professional
Problem-based Learning and Assessment in Teacher Education Investigation of the use of problem-based learning as a signature pedagogy in the design, development , and
implementation of assessment curriculum in preservice teacher education. Also includes an examination of the challenges
and opportunities faced by both the instructor and students in the process of learning about assessment through
Test and Survey Development, Adaptation, and Validation Development, adaptation, and validation of tests and surveys using both exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, as well as
item response theory.
