Cancer Epidemiology Dr Friedenreich conducts studies on physical activity and cancer control including observational epidemiologic research studies and randomized controlled intervention trials. Her research includes studies on etiology and on biologic mechanisms involved in cancer prevention and survival. She has also developed methods for assessing physical activity and includes direct measurements of activity and physical fitness in her studies.

Students working with me should have strong quantitative skills and an interest in modifiable lifestyle risk factors involved in cancer etiology and survival. Previous course work in statistics and epidemiology would be an asset. An understanding of exercise sciences would also be advantageous.
