Campus Cleanup and Barbecue
Take part in a springtime tradition at UCalgary: April 21, 2017
The annual Campus Cleanup is a great opportunity for UCalgary students, staff and faculty members, along with our university neighbours, to come together to show our community pride and our commitment to sustainability.
Take a break, get outside and help make the University of Calgary campus a better place to learn, work, live and play with a little spring cleaning.
You're invited to participate in the eighth-annual University of Calgary Campus Cleanup and Barbecue hosted by Facilities. Put a team together or take part as an individual and own your clean-up zone!
Taylor Family Digital Library (TFDL) Quad
Main Campus, University of Calgary
Note: In case of bad weather, the rain-out date for the event is April 28, 2017
All participants will be entered to win the door prize ( a solar-integrated backpack! ); prizes will also be awarded for the most litter collected and for the wackiest item found – previous gems have included a bathrobe, textbook, cricket bat...
Register in advance or at the event. Advance registration earns an extra ballot in the door prize draw.
Bags, gloves and a quick orientation will be provided before you head out, and a barbecue lunch will be waiting when you get back.
Note: All participants will be required to sign a waiver prior to taking part in the event.
All litter collected is recycled or sent to the landfill as appropriate. UCalgary currently diverts 20 waste streams from the landfill including batteries, electronics, furniture, scrap metal, hazardous materials and more.
Learn more about what you can recycle and how at ucalgary.ca/sustainability/recycling or by dropping by the Sustainability Resource Centre, Science B 101.
