BILL PERKS: A MAN OF VISION
Thanks
by Bill Perks

Thank you all for taking such grand notice of me on the occasion of my retirement. The tribute paid to me on November 22 was simply overwhelming. I was literally moved beyond words. Which doubtless will surprise those of you who were unable to attend -as much as it must have disappointed those who were there.

Thank you, Walter, Anne, Nancy and the others who so tastefully and expertly managed the event, and those of you too who occupied the stage. To the Faculty and University and the alumni who arranged and gave support to the dedication of a Scholarship for studies in "Sustainable Community Design", I am especially grateful for the recognition you have given to both the subject and my work of the past several years.

Months later, it is still impossible for me to express fully or adequately the feelings of warmth and gratitude that were inspired in me that evening; but I still experience them. I take joy in knowing that I shall always be able to summon them vividly to mind and heart. I can only think to say I have been extraordinarily blessed, and in some unexpected ways, by my 25 year of career work in EVDS, and by the study and associations with students and colleagues which, in all, have led to; so many friendships and deeply-felt, mutual regard.

May all of you be so generously and kindly dealt with when you retire!
