(CCDARC)


A NEW CONCEPT IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

The Canadian Community Development and Applied Research Consortium (CCDARC) was established by three university-affiliated partners in 1989 to provide innovative solutions and recommendations on public policy and development strategies thereby assisting communities to better address their pressing development issues while responding to global and other change forces, while enabling government, non-governmental agencies and the private sector.

WHO WE ARE

The three CCDARC partners are:

The Centre for Environmental Design Research and Outreach (CEDRO) and its Livable Communities Group at The University of Calgary

CEDRO provides training and outreach expertise in physical design and planning, geographical information systems, computer-assisted design, community economic development, tourism, aboriginal cultural resource management and heritage resource management.

WESTARC Group Inc. at Brandon University

The WESTARC Group is a consulting organization that has been actively involved with the research, training and development needs of rural communities in western Canada since 1985. WESTARC's skills are in the areas of leadership development, training, human resources development, and rural health care.

The Rural and Small Town Programme at Mount Allison University.

Since 1984, Mount Allison's Rural and Small Town Programme has offered research and support services in the Atlantic as well as other parts of Canada. Activities cover the areas of housing, sustainable development, community economic development, information technology development, human resources development, and micro-business development.
