UCalgary Flag Raising Ceremony
Join us for UCalgary’s Pride Flag Raising Ceremony
Hosted by the Office of Institutional Commitments
Kick off Pride Week 2025 with the raising of the Pride flag, celebrating our commitment to inclusion, diversity and support for LGBTQ2S+ communities. This event is a symbol of solidarity and a reminder of our ongoing efforts to create a welcoming campus for everyone.
Speakers include:

Enjoy music and treats as we launch the week together, featuring musical guest Daniel Sanguinetti and cupcakes from the alumni-owned business, Crave Cupcakes.

In 2022, the UCalgary Bookstore partnered with the Graduate Students’ Association Gender and Sexuality Alliance Subcommittee (GSA²) to launch a initiative supporting trans and gender-diverse youth. Together, they created a program where $10 from each UCalgary Pride t-shirt and hoodie sold is donated to the Skipping Stone Foundation. These funds help provide affirming mental health services through the University of Calgary Psychology Clinic, which offers sliding-scale therapy in collaboration with Skipping Stone.
The partnership also led to the development of a range of pronoun pins, further promoting inclusivity and visibility on campus. Through this ongoing initiative, the bookstore continues to support access to affirming care for some of the most vulnerable members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community.
We Say Gay: Queer Kid Lit and Censorship in the Sunshine State
The Calgary Institute for the Humanities presents the 7th Annual LGBTQ2S+ Lecture in partnership with UCalgary Alumni and Calgary Central Library. The talk will be using Florida as a case study with its current controversies in the context of queer literature for kids with guest lecturer, Dr. Kenneth Kidd, PhD, a Professor of English at the University of Florida.

Cold Garden Sunset Patio Drag Party
The Cold Garden patio transforms in collaboration with UCalgary Alumni into a runway of rhinestones, rhythm, and radiant energy for the Cold Garden Pride Ball: Glam on Tap - Evening Drag Show!
Hosted by the sensational Angelina Starchild, this open-air celebration brings together some of Calgary’s most iconic queens for a night of high kicks, hot looks, and unforgettable moments. Cold Garden bevies will be flowing, the crowd will be glowing, and the vibe will be nothing short of fabulous!
This show is rain or shine - so pack your sparkle and your umbrella just in case.
Come ready to cheer, dance, and feel the pride.
This is an 18+ event. Valid ID required at the door.

Travel together to Pride with the Residence Rainbow Council
The Residence Rainbow Council invites all UCalgary residents, students and community members to join them to watch the Pride Parade to commute together using Calgary Transit. They will begin heading over to watch at 9:45 a.m., with participants asked to meet 15 minutes earlier.

For many, the Calgary Pride Parade is about highlighting equality, creating community, and honouring the history of the Pride movement. Join your UCalgary friends, classmates, and colleagues as we demonstrate diversity and unity along the Pride parade route. *Parade participation spots are limited*
