FAQ

The fluid situation caused by the COVID-19 Omicron variant is understandably generating questions with regard to students' return to campus and plans for the winter 2022 term.

This FAQ page helps provide clarity in this changing environment. Information will be updated here as details are known. The situation is still changing, and we will communicate as quickly as we can.

In the case of these exemptions, students will be contacted directly.

Following Term Break, classes or class components originally planned to be in-person will resume in-person instruction on campus on Feb. 28, 2022.

There are select courses that require an in-person component before the university-wide return to in-person instruction, meaning that students in those courses will need to attend in-person instruction prior to February 19. Affected students will be notified by their instructors by January 24. Yes, courses temporarily moved online are expected to resume in person from Feb. 28, 2022.

You are still required to meet the University of Calgary Vaccine Directive. This includes courses which have been temporarily moved online but are planned for in-person delivery later in the term.

No, current academic dates and regulations are still applicable given that courses continue to be delivered. The last date to drop courses was Thursday, January 20, 2022 and the last day to add courses was Friday, January 21, 2022 for a winter term course.

Students in courses with in-person learning elements before February 19 were eligible to apply to drop a course late without a financial penalty or any impact to their student record. Students who had experienced a change in circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic were also able to apply for the late course drop. The application deadline to apply, which was January 28, has now past.

Students who were not able to request a pandemic-related late course drop by January 28 can still withdraw from any winter 2022 course after the drop deadline up until April 12. The withdrawal will be recorded on the permanent record/transcript as a W, and fees will not be refunded.

Yes. You will be assessed general fees (such as Campus Recreation and Athletics fees) as services are available and campus remains open during the temporary shift to online classes.
