The Chancellor's Scholars

Growing up in Bella Coola, British Columbia, shaped Morgan's passion for outdoor education, sports, teaching, and coaching. As she pursues a combined degree in Education and Kinesiology at the University of Calgary while competing on the Dinos wrestling team, she hopes to inspire and empower youth through physical activity, sport, and education. Morgan is dedicated to giving back to the communities that supported her while helping youth build confidence, resilience, and courage.

This scholarship helps ease the financial pressure of my education, allowing me to focus on my academic, athletic, and leadership goals at the University of Calgary. Isha was drawn to studying Biomedical Sciences by her passion for scientific inquiry and medicine. She is interested in the intersection of medical research, education, and patient care, and hopes to combine these areas to drive health innovation. Beyond the classroom, Isha enjoys mentoring youth through tutoring, volunteering, and leadership opportunities. She is also a competitive trivia player who loves reading and expressing her creativity through painting and poetry.

Sophy Hu is pursuing a combined degree in Natural Science and Education at the University of Calgary. Her passion for STEM and education has led her to create her own tutoring program, where she supports students in developing both academic skills and confidence in their learning. Through teaching, volunteering and youth leadership, Sophy has discovered the meaningful impact educators can have on their communities. She hopes to combine her knowledge of science with her passion for teaching to inspire curiosity, encourage growth, and make STEM education more accessible to young learners.

Nathania is a Biomedical Sciences student at the University of Calgary with a strong interest in cancer research, inspired by her experiences at the Calgary Youth Science Fair and HYRS, where she developed an interest in both the biological advances behind cancer therapies and their psychological impact on patients and families. Alongside her interest in research, she founded the REACH Foundation, Break the Stigma, and Core Tutoring, serving her community through education, advocacy, and service.

"The moment I received the call, I knew my life was about to change. Being selected alongside so many remarkable students is an honour I will never take for granted. This scholarship has lifted many of the financial pressures that come with starting university, allowing me to focus on my goals and continue serving my community. I hope to give back in the same life-changing way you have given me."

Driven by her passion for justice and advocacy, Blossom is pursuing a Law and Society degree in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Calgary. She hopes to deepen her understanding of the legal system and develop the knowledge and skills to advocate effectively for those facing systemic barriers. Blossom’s ultimate goal is to become a lawyer who empowers marginalized communities and helps shape policies that foster equity, and lasting social change.

Anna is pursuing a degree in biomedical sciences. Since childhood, she has been fascinated by the human body and how it functions, a curiosity that has grown into a passion for biomedical research and an aspiration to pursue a career in healthcare. Throughout high school, Anna volunteered at hospitals and senior care homes, held leadership positions in her school's science and business clubs, winning case competitions for her school, and fundraised for healthcare research. As a violinist, she loves sharing music with her community through recitals and performances. In her spare time, Anna enjoys reading, crocheting, hiking and playing volleyball.

Adjusting to a new school system in grade 10, I was quite stressed about college applications. I never imagined that I would be chosen for this scholarship. I feel incredibly touched that the scholarship committee advocated for me, and I promise to do my best to repay this kindness by taking initiative and offering help wherever I can."

Oluchi Aniagu is pursuing a degree in International Relations in the Faculty of Arts. Passionate about tackling pressing global issues such as immigration crises, women’s rights, and human rights abuses, Oluchi envisions a future as an international lawyer working with the United Nations. Her goal is to stand up for marginalized communities and fight systemic injustice. Through her studies and interests, she is preparing to transform her passion into action and become a catalyst for meaningful global change.

Beyond the immense encouragement it provides, this support eases significant financial pressures, granting me the freedom to dedicate myself wholly to my academic and professional aspirations. Sophia chose to pursue a degree in Health Sciences at the University of Calgary because of its emphasis on research. She is passionate about the intersection between health research and advocacy. She hopes to use the skills she learns to promote participatory-action and community-based research models in health research to foster research designs that are sensitive and sustainable.

Their generosity has given me the opportunity to focus completely on my academics, engagement in student clubs, and other commitments on campus. I’m honoured to be a part of the program and hope to give back to the University of Calgary and my community."

Corey has always been fascinated by the brain and how neuroscience can reveal the roots of human behaviour and health. At the University of Calgary, she is eager to explore the neuroscience program through interdisciplinary learning and hands-on research. Beyond the classroom, she balances her studies with athletics and volunteer work, seeing them as opportunities to grow as a person while making a positive difference in her community. With the goal of pursuing a career in the medical field. Corey hopes to use her education alongside skills gained from extracurricular pursuits to support others and make a lasting impact on people's lives.

Alyson Chintea is passionate about the intersection of art, science, and design, which has fueled her deep interest in architecture. She is excited to study at the University of Calgary, where she will explore sustainable urban design, the social impact of architecture, and how built environments shape communities. She hopes to use her education to create innovative, inclusive, and functional spaces that address critical issues such as homelessness, sustainability, and accessibility.

This award has not only alleviated financial burdens but has also given me the freedom to fully immerse myself in my studies and embrace new opportunities. It serves as both a validation of my aspirations and a source of motivation to push myself further. Noah’s interest in the function of the human body drew him to the University of Calgary’s Kinesiology program. He plans on combining this passion with his joy of teaching to pursue an MD/Ph.D degree, getting involved in both the clinical and teaching sides of medicine. 

Outside of classes, Noah is an entrepreneur, volunteers in various clubs and organizations, and loves to swim.

Fazayl chose to study neuroscience because of her fascination with the complexities of the nervous system and the biological origins of mental illness. In particular, she was drawn to the hands-on and interdisciplinary nature of the program at the University of Calgary. Ultimately, Fazayl hopes to pursue a career in the healthcare sector so that she can continue to channel her passion for serving her community. 

In her spare time, Fazayl enjoys reading, volunteering, and skating with friends.

Driven by a passion for scientific discovery and its real-world impact, Zarin is pursuing a Bachelor of Health Sciences at the University of Calgary. She is particularly interested in research that bridges healthcare and community well-being, aiming to contribute to advancements that improve patient outcomes. Her commitment to advocacy and supporting marginalized communities motivates her to engage in initiatives that empower individuals facing systemic barriers. 

Beyond academics, she enjoys baking, reading, and playing the piano—activities that foster creativity, patience, and attention to detail, qualities she values in both research and community engagement.

When deciding her degree path, Ayana went into business desiring to learn simple principles that could apply to all jobs and aspects of life. She is motivated by a sheer love of learning and a desire to challenge herself. Recently, she has gained a love for accounting and operations management and is hoping to pursue a stream that involves these new areas of interest. 

Ayana is also a passionate weightlifter and a strong advocate for leading a healthy, balanced life. Outside of school, Ayana volunteers to teach those less fortunate by combining her social and creativity skills. She hopes to combine her newfound interests and passion of helping others through various other volunteer opportunities in the future.

Nikhil believes that the greatest motivation arises when your passions align with the evolving needs of society, creating a deeper sense of fulfillment and purpose. His zeal for STEM initiatives, addressing healthcare inequities, and his commitment to community service led him to pursue a degree in biomedical sciences. 

Beyond his academic pursuits, he actively takes on leadership roles, mentors junior students, volunteers for community outreach projects, and spearheads fundraising initiatives for local charitable organizations. In his spare time, he enjoys honing his chess skills and refining his swimming technique. His travel experiences allow him to explore different cultures, fostering personal growth and a deeper appreciation for diversity while gaining valuable insights.

Drawn to the University of Calgary for its welcoming atmosphere and outstanding Psychology program, Chinenye Enyinanya-Okidi values the opportunities for research, collaboration, and mentorship that the institution offers. As a Psychology (BSc) major, she is passionate about understanding the environmental and biological influences on human behavior and applying this knowledge to real-world challenges.   

With aspirations of becoming a Clinical Psychologist specializing in child and adolescent mental health, Chinenye hopes to address the growing psychological needs of young people. She is particularly interested in exploring the long-term effects of advancing technology and digital-social spaces on cognitive and behavioral processes.
