Chancellor's Scholarships are among the most prestigious scholarships offered at the University of Calgary, and attract some of the best and brightest students from across the province and country. Recipients from a range of disciplines are selected through their demonstration of academic excellence and exceptional community involvement.
This $15,000 undergraduate scholarships is awarded annually, renewable for up to four years. Funding for these scholarships comes from the generous support of donors.
Recipients are automatically members of the Chancellor’s Ambassadors.

First Years
Oluchi Aniagu
Oluchi Aniagu is pursuing a degree in International Relations in the Faculty of Arts. Passionate about tackling pressing global issues such as immigration crises, women’s rights, and human rights abuses, Oluchi envisions a future as an international lawyer working with the United Nations. Her goal is to stand up for marginalized communities and fight systemic injustice. Through her studies and interests, she is preparing to transform her passion into action and become a catalyst for meaningful global change.

Sohpia Lee
Sophia chose to pursue a degree in Health Sciences at the University of Calgary because of its emphasis on research. She is passionate about the intersection between health research and advocacy. She hopes to use the skills she learns to promote participatory-action and community-based research models in health research to foster research designs that are sensitive and sustainable.

Corey Ovie
Corey has always been fascinated by the brain and how neuroscience can reveal the roots of human behaviour and health. At the University of Calgary, she is eager to explore the neuroscience program through interdisciplinary learning and hands-on research. Beyond the classroom, she balances her studies with athletics and volunteer work, seeing them as opportunities to grow as a person while making a positive difference in her community. With the goal of pursuing a career in the medical field. Corey hopes to use her education alongside skills gained from extracurricular pursuits to support others and make a lasting impact on people's lives.

Second Years
Alyson Chintea
Alyson Chintea is passionate about the intersection of art, science, and design, which has fueled her deep interest in architecture. She is excited to study at the University of Calgary, where she will explore sustainable urban design, the social impact of architecture, and how built environments shape communities. She hopes to use her education to create innovative, inclusive, and functional spaces that address critical issues such as homelessness, sustainability, and accessibility.

Noah Karmali
Noah’s interest in the function of the human body drew him to the University of Calgary’s Kinesiology program. He plans on combining this passion with his joy of teaching to pursue an MD/Ph.D degree, getting involved in both the clinical and teaching sides of medicine.
Outside of classes, Noah is an entrepreneur, volunteers in various clubs and organizations, and loves to swim.

Fazayl Zahra
Fazayl chose to study neuroscience because of her fascination with the complexities of the nervous system and the biological origins of mental illness. In particular, she was drawn to the hands-on and interdisciplinary nature of the program at the University of Calgary. Ultimately, Fazayl hopes to pursue a career in the healthcare sector so that she can continue to channel her passion for serving her community.
In her spare time, Fazayl enjoys reading, volunteering, and skating with friends.

Zarin Hossain
Driven by a passion for scientific discovery and its real-world impact, Zarin is pursuing a Bachelor of Health Sciences at the University of Calgary. She is particularly interested in research that bridges healthcare and community well-being, aiming to contribute to advancements that improve patient outcomes. Her commitment to advocacy and supporting marginalized communities motivates her to engage in initiatives that empower individuals facing systemic barriers.
Beyond academics, she enjoys baking, reading, and playing the piano—activities that foster creativity, patience, and attention to detail, qualities she values in both research and community engagement.

Ayana Nathoo
When deciding her degree path, Ayana went into business desiring to learn simple principles that could apply to all jobs and aspects of life. She is motivated by a sheer love of learning and a desire to challenge herself. Recently, she has gained a love for accounting and operations management and is hoping to pursue a stream that involves these new areas of interest.
Ayana is also a passionate weightlifter and a strong advocate for leading a healthy, balanced life. Outside of school, Ayana volunteers to teach those less fortunate by combining her social and creativity skills. She hopes to combine her newfound interests and passion of helping others through various other volunteer opportunities in the future.

Nikhil Srivalsan
Nikhil believes that the greatest motivation arises when your passions align with the evolving needs of society, creating a deeper sense of fulfillment and purpose. His zeal for STEM initiatives, addressing healthcare inequities, and his commitment to community service led him to pursue a degree in biomedical sciences.
Beyond his academic pursuits, he actively takes on leadership roles, mentors junior students, volunteers for community outreach projects, and spearheads fundraising initiatives for local charitable organizations. In his spare time, he enjoys honing his chess skills and refining his swimming technique. His travel experiences allow him to explore different cultures, fostering personal growth and a deeper appreciation for diversity while gaining valuable insights.

Chinenye Enyinnaya-Okidi
Drawn to the University of Calgary for its welcoming atmosphere and outstanding Psychology program, Chinenye Enyinanya-Okidi values the opportunities for research, collaboration, and mentorship that the institution offers. As a Psychology (BSc) major, she is passionate about understanding the environmental and biological influences on human behavior and applying this knowledge to real-world challenges.
With aspirations of becoming a Clinical Psychologist specializing in child and adolescent mental health, Chinenye hopes to address the growing psychological needs of young people. She is particularly interested in exploring the long-term effects of advancing technology and digital-social spaces on cognitive and behavioral processes.

Fourth Years
Steven Brennan
Steven’s passion for scientific innovation and problem solving has driven him to pursue a career in engineering. He looks forward to applying engineering concepts to develop practical solutions to pressing challenges for the betterment of his local and global communities.
In his spare time, Steven loves exploring the mountains through hiking, backpacking, and skiing. He also enjoys giving back to his school, church, and local communities through various volunteering roles.

Daniela Falaye
Daniela is drawn to neuroscience because she is interested in learning more about the complexities of the brain and the role it plays in human behavior and mental illnesses. She is excited to study at the University of Calgary because the interdisciplinary, research focused nature of her program will allow her to gain a comprehensive of understanding of the brain and nervous system.

Stephanie Huynh
Stephanie was drawn to studying Biomedical Sciences by her passion for scientific inquiry and health innovation. She is fascinated by the intersection between art and science, and hopes to pursue a career in medicine where she can conduct impactful research and advocate for equitable and inclusive care.
Beyond the classroom, Stephanie enjoys reading, playing the violin, and volunteering.

Raneet Kahlon
To combine her love for health research, biology, and working with others, Raneet chose to pursue a degree in Biomedical Sciences. She hopes to find an application for her fortes and passions while being able to contribute to the scientific community through new health research projects and advancements.
Outside of school she is involved in fundraising for the Alberta Children’s Hospital, or she can be found at the rink either playing or coaching hockey.

Larissa Mohler
Coming from a small-town in rural Alberta, Larissa has always known the value of being active in the heart of her community. She believes that creating a sense of community encourages belonging to better support the mental wellbeing of fellow residents. These values led her to pursuing the steps to becoming a social worker, to empower the people in her community. Outside of class, she enjoys public speaking, mental health advocacy, volunteering and sports.

Saoirse Musgrove
From a young age, Saoirse has been fascinated with learning about how the world works. She chose to apply her love of STEM and her creative drive to the field of engineering. In the future, she hopes to turn her ideas into a successful business.
Outside the classroom, Saoirse is pursuing her Advanced 2 certification in Ballet. She also enjoys reading and writing, creating music and art, and spending time with friends and family.

Cassidy Thibodeau
Drawn to areas working with youth in her community, Cassidy found a love for supporting children of all ages in both academic and athletic settings. Inspired by the influential role her teachers and mentors have had on her life, she aspires to touch the lives of the future kids who will be in her classroom. Throughout Highschool she was a student leader, as a member of student council, captain of the cheerleading team, and as an advocate for removing the stigma around Mental Health

Natalie Timmerman
Natalie is pursuing the Chartered Professional Accountant designation through her studies at the Haskayne School of Business. Combining her passion for mathematics with her ambition to develop unique solutions for complex problems is the driving force behind Natalie’s desire to pursue corporate or tax law as a career. She is enthusiastic about the opportunity to build a life centered on the merging of creative and critical thought and intellectual challenge.
In her spare time, Natalie enjoys reading, hiking and coaching volleyball.

Jason Xie
Jason strongly believes that technology is the key to solving people’s problems. In high school, Jason conducted research with a focus on data science and machine learning in healthcare. From there, his interest continued to bloom, leading him to pursue a degree in Computer Science.
He has also led many youth-focused initiatives, hoping to inspire students to pursue their goals in the sciences. Outside of school, Jason loves to bike, ski, and play the piano.
