Energize: The Campaign for Eyes High promises to positively charge our campus community, our city and beyond for the next 50 years – with student experiences to unleash potential, research outcomes to benefit society, and community connections to strengthen our ties.

Campaign progress

A philanthropic investment of $3.5 million from UCalgary alumni Lori Egger, BA'87, MSc'90, PhD'94, and Steve Laut, BSc'79, establishes a state-of-the-art, in-house pscyhology clinic on campus. The gift enables affordable mental-health support to Calgarians, regardless of income or circumstance, and increases hands-on training opportunities for clinical psychology graduate students.

A transformative, $40 million gift from the Hunter Family Foundation will establish the Hunter Hub for Entrepreneurial Thinking. An interdisciplinary nucleus, the Hub will serve to encourage and teach students to think courageously, identify opportunities, collaborate effectively, build partnerships, cherish diversity and embrace sustainability.  It will build on the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Haskayne School of Business, which was made possible in part by a separate gift from the Hunter Family Foundation in 2012.

A stellar year for our $1.3 billion Energize campaign

We invite you to find illumination and inspiration in the annual edition of our Energize progress report, Campaign 201. This edition features stories from students, faculty, alumni and friends who have either been moved to make a philanthropic gift, often for a deeply personal reason, or empowered to make extraordinary change in the world. You’ll meet the likes Varun Bhatt, exuberant student in the first cohort in a first-of-its-kind combined degree program; Tony Johnson, whose energy and generosity would be startling even in an individual without terminal brain cancer; and get a first look at a new professor whose perspective and research may dramatically alter society’s perspectives on gender roles.
