Then, now and the future of our campus.

50 years ago, the University of Calgary was established on donated ranchland; it was a car-commuter institution at the edge of a growing city. As the surrounding neighbourhoods mature and the city’s transit system expands, the university has become more pedestrian-friendly. Today, the campus is one of the most extensive and important public spaces in Calgary, hosting 30,000 students and 5,000 staff.

In this guided tour, we will provide some historical context and images, and discuss challenges and opportunities we have in making our campus more memorable. The tour will be 90 minutes and cover about 3 kilometer in walking distance, so where comfortable walking shoes.
