Avalanche Skills Training 1

  • Course Fee is $190 and includes: the Avaluator™, use of transceiver, probe, shovel, manual, & certificate.
  • 8 hrs of class instruction (either Saturday or 2 evenings) Field day is at Fortress Mountain.
  • You do not need to be able to ski or snowboard to take this course
  • This course meets the Canadian Avalanche Association guidelines for Avalanche Skills Training Level 1 (AST 1)

Avalanche Skills Training 2 (AST 2)

This course is designed for skiers/riders who have already taken a basic avalanche awareness course and who are comfortable on skis in the backcountry. The course follows the curriculum for the Canadian Avalanche Centre's 'Avalanche Skills Training level 2. 

Advanced Avalanche Risk Management

This course is designed for the experienced backcountry traveler who wants to take a leadership role in complex and/or remote areas. Curriculum includes elements of professional level training that are relevant to non-professionals.

Advanced Companion Rescue

Focus on companion rescue in avalanche terrain. This is an in depth look at the latest in beacon technology, search techniques for single, deep, serial single, and multiple burial scenarios. You will also practice digging techniques, rescue organization, and searching for a person without a signal.
