The UCalgary Recovery Community (UCRC), a Recovery on Campus (ROC) initiative, is a peer-driven, inclusive program that supports students, faculty, and staff across all recovery pathways and stages. UCRC meets people where they are in their recovery journey and works to build community while reducing addiction-related stigma on campus.
UCRC recognizes that recovery is self-defined and may include a range of recovery-oriented and harm-reducing approaches. The program offers weekly peer-support meetings and recovery-oriented programming for the UCalgary community.
Officially launched in 2021, UCRC is Alberta’s first campus-based recovery community and serves as the flagship program and headquarters for recovery communities now being developed across the province through Recovery on Campus. The UCRC provides infrastructure, training and support to 26 publicly funded post-secondary institutions in Alberta.

Substance-Free Programming
Looking to host a substance-free event? Designed to foster recovery‑friendly campus communities, the Recovery on Campus (ROC) Event Planning Toolkit provides practical guidance for planning intentional and sustainable events. The UCRC encourages event hosts to review the toolkit for more information on hosting recovery-friendly events.
