  • Stephen Herrero and graduate students Michael Gibeau and John Kansas made a presentation on 7 November 1995 to the Canadian Council on Ecological Areas Conference pertaining to the maintenance of biodiversity and ecological integrity in resource-based economies. The presentation focussed on the Eastern Slopes Grizzly Bear Project, and was one of ten nation-wide case studies higlighting cooperative efforts toward protected-area planning. Also at the conference was Bill Ross, Director of Environmental Science, who served as Moderator for all sessions on 8 November.
  • Bob Page gave the keynote address on Canadian Environmental Management to the Kanagawa Foundation Conference on Environment and Leadership in Hayama, Japan on 28 October 1995. He was one of three Canadians invited to attend. This is the first of a series of events where Environmental Design wil be cooperating with the Management Programme of the Banff Centre.
  • On 29 September 1995, Richard Revel was appointed to the First Joint Panel under the new Canadian Environmental Assessment Act and the National Energy Board Act. The announcement followed the conclusion of an agreement between the parties to establish the joint review, which will meet the requirements of both the Acts. Dr Revel was appointed by Cabinet as a temporary member of the National Energy Board (NEB). The Panel is reviewing the Express Pipeline Project, an international pipeline going from Hardisty, Alberta to Casper, Wyoming.
  • Renowned Vancouver architect Peter Cardew was the visiting critic for the spring architecture studio juries.
  • The Faculty Council has approved the motion seeking to change the degree designation MEDes (Architecture) to MArch.
