Crevasse Rescue 1

Spend the day learning the equipment and techniques used in crevasse rescue. We use sections of the climbing room that were built specifically for crevasse rescue systems. Learn how to rope up for glacier travel, use assisted rescue techniques with a dropped loop and self rescue. This program is also offered as an evening course. Prerequisite: none. Includes: instructor, technical equipment.

Scrambling Skills Intro

Enjoy a day of scrambling skills that will get you off the beaten path. We’ll cover wilderness skills, terrain recognition and trip planning which are used for safe mountain travel. This will include map reading and navigation, group management and managing steep terrain using rope. On the way we’ll attempt a scrambling peak in Banff Park or Kananaskis. Guide to guest ratio is 1:6. Prerequisite: good-very good fitness. Previous hiking experience an asset. Includes: ACMG certified guide, backcountry permits.
