Home School Gymnastics Grade 1/2 Calgary

This structured 50 minute gymnastics program is for children who are homeschooled and in Grades 1 and 2 during the duration of this program.

No previous gymnastics experience necessary.

Adaptive Gymnastics

This exciting 45-minute program is designed to introduce children with special needs to the sport of artistic gymnastics. Our preschool programs are designed to lay a strong foundation in basic gymnastics which is beneficial for any future sports children may participate in.

Gymnatots Calgary

This parented program is the first step in the preschool program. Our preschool program is designed to lay a strong foundation in basic gymnastics which is beneficial for any future sports your child may participate in. Our class curriculum will be based on the Dominate Movement Patterns of Gymnastics (landings, springs, statics, rotations and swings). 

Supertots Calgary

This parented program is the next step up from our Gymnatot program. Children have accomplished the concepts of safety and the structure of the program has been mastered. The child is now ready to focus more on the combining of basic skills and developing of his/her self-confidence.

Kindergym Calgary

Our preschool program is designed to lay a strong foundation in basic gymnastics which is beneficial for any future sports your child may participate in. Our class curriculum will be based on the Dominate Movement Patterns of Gymnastics (landings, springs, statics, rotations and swings).

**Children in grade 1+ are not eligible for our preschool programs. Please enroll in the Homeschool or Recreational programs. 

Kindercracker Calgary

Kindercracker is the next level up from Kindergym and requires coach's recommendation.  Building on skills learned in Kindergym, this level strongly encourages children to be more independent. The purpose of the Kindercracker class is to attempt and perform skills with minimal assistance from the coach.

**Children in grade 1+ are not eligible for our preschool programs. Please enroll in the Homeschool or Recreational programs.

Firecracker Calgary

Firecracker is an advanced alternative to Kindercracker as the children continue to be challenged with more complex skills and activities. This program is for children with previous Kindergym or Kindercracker experience. This class requires the coach's recommendation.

**Children in grade 1+ are not eligible for our preschool programs. Please enroll in the Homeschool or Recreational programs.

Supercracker Calgary

Supercracker is the next step up from Firecracker and is currently only offered in the Spring 2015 session.
This class requires coach's recommendation and is designed for children who have taken at least one Firecracker class as the participants will be challenged with more complex skills.

**Children in grade 1+ are not eligible for our preschool programs. Please enroll in the Homeschool or Recreational programs.

DinoMites Calgary

With a focus on skill development, the intent of this program is to move children toward competitive gymnastics.

This is the first level of our Rhythmic Gymnastics program.

FireRhythmic Calgary

Fall 2017 Registration is now open.  The first day of Fall Classes is September 9th. Classes are expected to completely fill so don't delay to get the time slot that works best for you!

Birthday Parties - Cochrane


Birthday Party Info..
We provide 2 trained instructors for up to 22 children to supervise your group. Your birthday package includes 2 hours which includes; a 1/2 hour of games and instruction with the next half hour of supervised free time. The final hour is time for families to enjoy cake and present opening in the desiganeted party area. Due to scheduling of our birthdays, we cannot change the amount of gym time offered during birthdays. Our staff will be happy to clean up at the end of the party time.
Typically, we book parties on Sunday only; 9:30, 11:00, 12:30, 2:00, or 3:30. This is a very popular program, so plan to book about 8 to 12 weeks ahead.

Due to high demand of our parties, we often will have one birthday in the gym area, and one birthday finishing in the designated party area. We ask that you arrive no earlier than 15 minutes prior to allow time for our staff to clean the party area. We appreciate your understanding during our transition.

You are welcome to bring cake, ice-cream, and any other food or non-alcoholic beverage into the facility. Garbage cans are provided for your convenience. We do not have a refridgerator at this time so please consider this when making your food choices. Feel free to bring a cooler if you like.

IMPORTANT!!! All participants MUST HAVE a signed "Infomed Consent Form" by a parent or legal gardian which are provided onsite. Informed Consents can also be picked up onsite, as well as we would be happy to email one to you to print if you like. HELPFUL HINTS AND GYM EDICATE
* Children under the age of 4 require a parent with them during the gym time to help them get the most fun out of the activities in a fun, safe environment.
* Upon arrival, please be sure that parents and children remove all outer footwear and place them on the newly installed shoe racks located just before you enter the gym on the left hand
side of the gym doors. (NEW* We now have a NO shoe and socks rule in our gym)
*Upon entering the gym doors, coat racks are available.
* Children with special needs require a 1:1 ratio for safety reasons.
*Children are asked to patiently wait on the "white" line for the coaches to commence the party.
*As we allow up to 22 children for our birthday party, bathroom / water breaks need to be parent supervised.
* 10-15 minutes has been set aside between cleanings of the desiganted party area for your convenience. (In other words, 45 minutes into the gym time, the party room will become available. This time is available for you to decorate and stage the party area to your likeness.

Birthdays are a special time for children to celebrate another bench mark in their lives. We would like to thank you in advance, for respecting each others time slots in the gym and designated party area etc as we work together to make you and your childs experience a wonderful memory.

Gym Jam

This is a non-competitive, recreational fun meet for ages 6 years and older who are registered at the Cochrane Location. (Not for preschool or Pre-copper gymnasts) Gymnasts registered in the Artistic or Trampoline and Tumbling Program, or WAG, Performance Team, and Aspire Programs are welcome to participate. There are limited spots available.

Gym Jam is an event where gymnasts will perform a routine on each event. These routines will be practiced in each class. Don't worry, if your child has does not remember the routine as our coaching staff will be there by their side to help walk them through it. This event will have prizes, medals, and loads of recognition. Don't miss out!

Registration for Gym Jam opens on October 12, 2017
Reistration Deadline is November 16th, 2017.

Gym Jam will be held on December 16, 2017 from approximately 9-12:15pm. We are currently determining if we can offer 2 times slots on based on the demand of the program and we will post more information about any additonal times at a later date. If the event is full, and you add your name to the "waitlist" we will use that waitlist to determine if we are going to open an "afternoon session which would begin at 1:30 and most likely end at approximately 3:30pm. Opening a second time slot will not be reviewed until November 16th, at which time there will be a short time frame to register so we have time to pull the event together.

This is an event for family and friends to have the opportunity to watch the children show off their skill, and will be looking forward to you in the audience and hearing you cheer them on.

Cochrane Parkour Gymnastics (11-17 years old Co-ed)

Parkour Gymnastics is a NEW program as of Januar 2017 at the U of C, Cochrane Gymnastics Centre. We are located in the Spray Lake Family Sports Centre at 800 Griffin Road East, Cochrane AB.

Our parkour program is based on Fundamental Movement Patterens taken from the Sport of Gymnastics. This program is geared for those who want the absolute challenge pushing their limits and who are willing to work hard for big sucesses.

CRICKETS (age 3.5) this parented program is the next step up from our Tiny tots program. Children have accomplished the concepts of safety and the structure of the program has been mastered. The child is now ready to focus more on the combining of basic skills and developing of his/her self-confidence.
We highly recommend participation in the Cricket class, to have had previous participation in our Tiny Tots program or be turning 4 years old within the next few weeks.

We focus on letting children try to do more on their own with little parent help to get them ready for our 4 - 5 year old program called Tumble Bugs.

This is an unparented class where our main focus is on safety and demonstrating correct techniques in a positive, fun environment. Children can enter our Tumble Bugs Program without any gymnastics experience.

Cochrane Kindercracker (5-6yrs coed) - non parented

KINDERCRACKER will no longer be available at the Cochrane location as the Precopper program has proven to be a successful replacement. See the Tumble Bug program for ages 4-5, and the Pre-copper program for those who are 5 years old and turning 6 shortly. .

Coach In Training Program (CIT) 13+ Cochrane

The Cochrane Gymnastics Program is proud to offer regsistered gymnasts age 13-15 the opportunity to become a Coach In Training (C.I.T.). This volunteer program is geared towards individuals who want to learn more about coaching with the intent to become a part of our certified coaching team. 13 year old Pre-CIT's must complete the program over two training years. 14 & 15 year olds have the option of completing the program in one or two training years. All CIT's are required to be registered in a minimum of 15 weeks of gymnastics during this time period.   (Typically 2 sessions).

As of April 2017 we have 12 C.I.T's (Coaches In Training)

Pre-Copper Cochrane (5.5 years only)

The Cochrane Gymnastics Program is excited to launch our newly developed Pre-Copper Program. This structured program is geared towards gymnasts who are 5 years of age and have the mental and physical readiness to begin the transition into our Recreation Ladder Program. This 1 hour program emphasizes strength, flexibility, coordination and development of foundational gymnastics skills. Our goal for this program is to enable gymnasts who are not old enough to join the 6 year old copper program, but have the ability and desire to develop their skills and refine them to a higher level. Our coaching team and the goals of the program are to ensure the success of each gymnast regardless of the program that they have registered in. Coaches will communicate to the parent if a more suitable program is available that would better support the learning of individuals. Listening skills are essential as safety is our first priority.

The Copper Program is the first ladder for gymnasts to climb out of the 6 ladder levels. This ladder has a number of steps (rungs) to climb before moving onto the next ladder level. Coaches will determine at the start of the class which step (rung) your child will begin with based on the criteria set out within the program. The program is based on Fun Fitness, and Fundamentals of the sport of gymnastic and is considerate of age and ability and is set up for children coming once a week for an hour and a half class. Gymnasts in this level will be given a short routine on each event to work towards.

The Recreation Ladder Program is designed to allow gymnasts to advance within their own age group and develop a strong understanding and love for the sport of gymnastics. Gymnasts will be challenged mentally and physically to achieve success in the is program by set criteria in a fun filled environment, which will support their future goals of learning more advanced skills as they continue with in the program.

Recreation Bronze (age 7 girls ) Cochrane

The Bronze Program is the second ladder for gymnasts to climb out of the 6 ladder levels. This ladder has a number of steps (rungs) to climb before moving to the next ladder level. Coaches will determine at the start of the class which step (rung) your child will begin with based on the criteria set out within the program. The program is based on Fun, Fitness and Fundamentals of the sport of gymnastics and is considerate of age and ability, and is set up for children coming once a week for an hour and a half class. Gymnasts in this level will be given a short routine on each event to work towards. (Boys at the age of 7 are welcome to join our Trampoline and Tumbling Program.)

The Recreation Ladder Program is designed to allow gymnasts to advance within their own age group and develop a strong understanding and love for the sport of gymnastics. Gymnasts will be challenged mentally and physically to achieve success in the program by set criteria in a fun filled enviromnent, which will support their future goals of learning more advanced skills as they contineu withn the program.

Recreation Silver (age 8 girls) Cochrane

The Silver Program is the third ladder for gymnasts to climbout of the 6 ladder levels. This ladder has a number of steps (rungs) to climb before moving onto the next ladder level. Coaches will determine at the start of the class which step (rung) your child will begin with based on the criteria set out within the program. The ladder program encourages children to have fun while learning proper gymnastics techniques and push the foundations of gymnastics to more optimum success levelss. This program is considerate of age and ability and is set up for children coming a minimum of once a week for an hour and a half class. Gymnasts in this level will be given a short routine on each event to work towards.

The ladder encourages children to have fun while learning proper techniques and push the foundation of gymnastics to more optimum success levels. This program is considerate of age and abilliity and is set up for children comiing a minimum of once a week for an hour and a half class. gymnasts in this level will be given a short routine on each event to work towards.

The Recreation Ladder Program is designed to allow gymnast to advance within their own age group and develop a strong undertanding and love for the sport of gymnastics. Gymnasts will be challenged mentally and physically to achieve success in this program by set criteria in a fun filled environment, whic hwill support their future goals of learning more advanced skills as they continue within the program.

Canjump (Trampoline and Tumbling (Coed) Cochrane

The Canjump Program is based on strength, flexibility, trampoline & tumbling skills. Gymnasts are divided by age and ability and will go through a progressive skills program taken from the nationally recognized "Canjump" Program. Athletes register by age and ability.

Homeschool Gymnastics Cochrane

The Cochrane Homeschool Program is a once a week, coed program that will align with the New Recreation Ladder Program and or the Canjump Program. Depending on registration and or staffing, groups will either be combined or separated into ages 6-8 and 9-12 and at this time will be offered only as a coed group unless coaches determine otherwise at the start of the class.

Cochrane Performance Team

The U of C, Cochrane Gymnastics Performance Team is made up of like minded gymnasts in the Recreation Program to strive to be the best they can be. The program is committed to;
  • Providing the Recreation Program wit ha higher level of Programming that gymnasts can be a part of in a team setting.
  • Having a team that can be used to promote the U of C Cochrane Gymnastics Program through the sport of gymnastics.
  • Teaching gymnastics and the life skills that are earned through hard work and dedication.
  • Helping with the development of our coaches in training program as we use them as demonstrators in our coach development program, and to possibly become a coach in training starting at the age of thirteen.
  • Supporting community program that align with our goals and objectives.
The Performance Team is a 10 month Committment from September 2017 - June 2018. Gymnasts who train during this time period may be invited to perform during the summer months that follow.

The Performance Team recruitment on a Try-out basis and by invite only.
The next tryout date for the Performance Team will be Friday, May 12, 2017.

Tryouts are held at the Cochrane Gymnastics facilty located in the Spray Lake Family Sports Centre in Cochrane AB. Please call or email TC Rogers at tcrogers@ucalgary.ca or 403.932.7373 if you are interested to sign up for tryouts.

Cochrane Aspire Team (Interclub)

The Aspire Team has a number of goals and objectives to achieve to support he Cochrane gynmnastics programming. Some of the goals are listed below.
  • Provide the Recreation Program with a higher level of programming that future gymnasts may strive to be a part of.
  • Be ready to participate in Interclub Recreation Fun Meets when and if the opportunities arise. Events will include Vault, Bars, Beam & Floor and will use other apparatus such as the trampoline, tumble track, or double mini trampoline as training tools.
  • Give athletes who "aspire" to be a part of the Performance Team opportunities to build and maintain skills with like-minded training programs and peers, while others will be fully engaged to stay within the Aspire Program itself.
  • Teaching gymnastics and the life skills that are earned through hard work and dedication. Strength, flexibility, focus, confidence, coordination, and technical training will be integral parts of this program.
  • Helping with the development of our coaches in training program (C.I.T.) and to possibly become a coach in training starting at the age of thirteen or fourteen.

Cochrane Developmental & Competitive Girls Gymnastics (WAG)

Cochrane Gymnastics has always been a Recreational based program, however has been growing steadily as a club, attacting more children every session. With the amount of children interested in the program, it has allowed our club to increase the number of programs and opportunities for both athletes and coaches alike.

Every program offered at Cochrane Gymnastics is important to us, as well as each individual child and their needs. Our goal is to offer children programs that are best suited for them, as well as the team. The Cochrane Developmental & Competitive program is geared toward children who show a strong level of athletic aptatude, has the ability to focus for long periods of time, and possess the desire to reach full potential during their gymnastics training. Children in this program may be steered by the Head Coach of the program at anytime to another program based on regular assessments completed. Some of these programs include our Preschool program, Recreation Program, or the Performance Team to just name a few, while others may continue in this program or recommended to further their competitive training at our main campus location. With regards to attending competitions, these decisions will be made by the Head Coach of the program in conjunction with the team manager, in accordance with the policies set out by the University. Participation in competitons are not gaurunteed.

We are excited to announce the launch of our Developmental Competitive Girls Program beginning in September 2017. Tryouts will be held on Friday, June 2nd for the following times based on their birth years.

Cochrane Gym drop-in

There is no drop in times available during the summer. Please see the below fall schedule.

(Less drop in dates are available due to coaches taking additional National Coaching Certification Upgrades)

We reserve the right to cancel drop in for unforseen circumstances without notice. Drop in is on a first come, first serve basis and staff will cap the number of drop in spots available for safety of all participants.

Ages 2-10 years old - Cost = $5.00 per time slot *CASH ONLY
Under 23months old are free.
*MAXIUM of 43 kids will be allowed in the gym at one time slot.

Parent supervision is required for children under the age of 10. Maximum 3 kids per adult
Typically we run


Fridays 12:50-1:50pm OR 2:00-3:00pm
Saturdays 4:40-5:40pm OR 5:50-6:50pm

Ages 11-17 years old - Cost = $10.00 per time slot *CASH ONLY!

Typically we run
Saturdays from 7-8:15pm
*MAXIMUM of 30 teens will be allowed in the gym at one time slot.

Informed Consents / Waivers for all patrons is required to be signed by a parent or legal guardian in order to participate without exception.

Cochrane Summer Camps



Build strong basic gymnastics skills in a safe environment, at the U of C, Cochrane Gymnastics Facility located at Spray Lake Sawmills Recreation Centre in Cochrane.

Our focus will be primarily Gymnastic skills howeever we will encorporate games, fun, & fitness, crafts, scavenger hunt, nature walk. Preschoolers are welcome to register in either a morning OR afternoon camp any or each week, but not permitted to register in morning and afternoon during the same week.

Preschool camps are ages 4-5
Recreation camps are ages 6-14 - gymnasts will be divided into age groups upon the first day of camp as determined by the staff.
Trampoline camps are ages 6-14 - gymnasts will be divided into age groups upon the first day of camp as determined by the staff.
Performance Team and Competitive Camps are are by invite only.

Themes for each week of camp will be lighlty incorporated into our programming.

Competitive Girls Gymnastics

Girls can enter our competitive program as early as age 5 in our pre-competitive program. From there, we offer programming at the J.O., Provincial, National and Elite levels, based upon the needs and talent of the individual child.

Competitive Boys Gymnastics

Boys can enter our competitive program as early as age 5, in our pre-competitive group. From there, we offer programming at the Provincial, National and Elite levels based on the needs and talent of the individual child. New athletes are always welcome.

Artistic Gymnastics Competitions

These competitions are for participants already registered in the competitive gymnastics program. Your coach will instruct you on which competitions to sign up for.
