Her first book, No One is Going to Nashville, was published in 1983 and recognised as an auspicious beginning for a new author, and her second book, Like Jake and Me, was a Newbery Honor book two years later. Since then she has completed more books and stories, written scripts with the McKissacks (also presenters at this conference), been an author‚in‚residence and presented lectures and workshops about writing. We look forward to Expecting the Unexpected(1996), and The Green Velvet Dress, which is a work in progress.
