Registration & Fees
IMPORTANT UPDATE: Effective immediately, the Effective Writing
Requirement has been lifted. Students are no longer required to
complete Effective Writing as part of their degree program. Effective
Writing will be removed from students' hold and/or to do lists as soon as
possible. More information will be provided in an email to be sent to
all students on January 11, 2010.
There is a $50 fee each time you write the exam. Approximately one week after the exam, the $50 exam fee will appear on your Student Centre. Please pay the fee in one of the following three ways:
- in person at the
Service Stop in MLB 122.
- on-line through
on-line banking
- by dropping off a
cheque or money order at the Service Stop.
Please do not pay until after the charge appears on your Student Centre.
Photo ID is also required. Students may bring an English language dictionary, but no other aids are permitted.
If you have already paid for the exam in person, please bring your original receipt so that you are not charged a second time.
On the test day, please wait near the Zipper sculpture outside the Science Theatres (ST 140 / 148). Try to be there around 6:15 as the test begins promptly at 6:30. Do not enter a room until directed to do so. Students who arrive more than 30 minutes late will not be allowed entry into the test.
The Effective Writing Test has the same status as any other university examination. Accordingly, any form of cheating will be considered grounds for suspension or expulsion from university.
