Effective Writing Test
IMPORTANT UPDATE: Effective immediately, the Effective Writing
Requirement has been lifted. Students are no longer need to
complete Effective Writing as part of their degree program. Effective
Writing will be removed from students' hold and/or to do lists as soon as
possible. More information will be provided in an email to be sent to
all students on January 11, 2010.
In this test, you will have 2.5 hours to write a 400-word essay in response to one of four questions on general topics such as family life, education, and social issues.
To pass the test, you must demonstrate university entrance-level competence in essay writing. Markers will be looking for a clear argument, an effective essay structure, well-developed paragraphs, and clear, logical, and grammatical expression of ideas. You may bring an English language dictionary to the test; however, other aids are not permitted.
If you wrote the November exam, please check your results
before registering for January.
