Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) is certified suicide intervention program. It provides community education and builds awareness of suicide. This training teaches students, staff, and faculty how to recognize and support someone who may be having thoughts of suicide.
QPR is a tool that can be used by anyone and provides direction as to how to question a person about suicidal thoughts, how to persuade them to get help, and how to refer the person to appropriate professional resources. By having individuals trained in QPR on our campus, we create a stronger a campus and are better able to support one another.
QPR is not intended to be a form of counselling or treatment; rather it is a community awareness initiative that helps prevent suicide.
