With the contributions, achievements and dedication of more than 6,000 employees on five campuses across two countries, the University of Calgary is one of Alberta’s Top 70 Employers of 2018 for the fifth year running.

With the vast range of job titles at the university — from hazardous materials handler to multivariable calculus professor, administrative assistant to library technician — UCalgary is a web of talent, diversity and innovation.

President Ed McCauley says he has seen first-hand over the last 30 years, the incredible commitment, skill and passion that employees bring to their work each day.

“The University of Calgary culture reflects the character of our accomplished trailblazers, change-makers and innovators,” McCauley says. “UCalgary’s people have built up a supportive and inclusive community with room for everyone to thrive.”

In 2018, more than 3,250 employers began the Top Employer application process to prove their quality in eight key categories, including:

  • physical workplace
  • work atmosphere and social
  • health, financial and family benefits
  • vacation and time off
  • employee communications
  • performance management
  • training and skills development
  • community involvement

The application package the university submitted included pictures and excerpts from events, initiatives and activities around campus last year. See the great things we achieved in 2018 that make UCalgary a great place to learn and work.
