University District — the 200-acre community taking shape on the west side of campus — is opening the doors to its new Discovery Centre this weekend. Members of the campus community and their families are welcome to visit the design showcase and celebrate the next steps in development of this master-planned neighbourhood.

  • When: March 11 and 12, 2017
  • Time: noon - 5 p.m., featuring fun activities, music, displays and food trucks
  • Where: 4410 University Ave N.W.. just north of the Children’s Hospital

Once completed, University District will consist of homes, businesses, amenities, and open space for Calgarians to enjoy. Thirteen of the streets in the new community will bear the names of University of Calgary current and former chancellors to honour their community leadership and volunteerism during the university’s first 50 years.

The independent West Campus Development Trust (WCDT) was created by the University of Calgary’s Board of Governors to lead the planning and development of the west campus lands, called University District. The WCDT is the first real estate development company of its kind in Alberta. To learn more, visit the Trust website.
