Message to the university community from the vice-president (facilities)
Boris Dragicevic is the newly appointed associate vice-president (facilities development). He will start his position at the university on Nov. 1, 2015.

Boris Dragicevic is the newly appointed associate vice-president (facilities development).

For the University of Calgary to achieve our bold Eyes High vision, we must continue to attract leading professionals, both academic and non-academic, who will contribute to our culture of innovation and growth. I am proud to announce the appointment of Boris Dragicevic as associate vice-president (facilities development) effective Nov. 1, 2015.

Boris brings to the university a wealth of experience and demonstrated leadership in facilities development and management in the post-secondary and construction sectors. As SAIT Polytechnic’s associate vice-president, facilities management, Boris has led a team in the design and construction of several, transformational facilities at SAIT culminating in more than $1 billion in capital expenditure in his 13 years at the institution. He was also responsible for the stewardship of the campus and its day-to-day maintenance and operational requirements.

Prior to his time at SAIT, Boris worked for eight years as an architect with The Cohos Evamy Partners. He holds a Master and Bachelor of Architecture from Montana State University as well as a Master of Business Administration in project management and a graduate diploma from Athabasca University. Boris was one of Alberta’s first LEED professionally certified architects.

In his new role as associate vice-president (facilities development), Boris will provide leadership, vision and technical expertise to the facilities development portfolio which is comprised of professional campus planners, architects, engineers, interior designers, project managers as well as external professional consultants. His team is directly responsible for facility design and aesthetics, environment, infrastructure and space utilization on campus.

As part of the university’s senior leadership team, Boris will collaborate and work closely with fellow members of the facilities leadership team, senior leaders, staff, students and industry partners to create a campus environment that supports and energizes teaching, research and community to positively impact learning and discovery.

I would like to thank the selection committee members for their tremendous efforts in helping engage and bring someone of Boris’ impressive talent and experience to the university: Kevin McQuillan, Dennis Sumara, Steve Gasser, Rae Ann Aldridge, Nicole Wheeler, and Davies Park Executive Search representative Allan Nelson.

Additionally, I would like to thank Jane Ferrabee for acting as the portfolio’s interim leader while the recruitment search was underway. Jane has provided sound leadership and we thank her for her dedication and commitment. She will continue in the position until Boris’ official start date and then will resume her valued role as university architect reporting to the associate vice-president, facilities development.

Please join me in congratulating Boris on his appointment and welcoming him to the University of Calgary.
