Three alumnae among Canada’s ‘100 Most Powerful Women’ of 2013

Women’s Executive Network salutes accomplishments, leadership

Three University of Calgary alumnae were recognized among Canada’s “100 Most Powerful Women” of 2013 by a national organization dedicated to the advancement and recognition of women in management, executive, professional and board roles.

The three – Jenny Gulamani-Abdulla, BA’91, Janice Odegaard, LLB’84, and Marie Delorme, PhD’12 – were part of a group of 100 women whose accomplishments and leadership were honoured at a Women’s Executive Network regional awards gala Thursday evening at the Westin Calgary.

The WXN Foundation supports the advancement and empowerment of women by creating mentoring, learning and networking opportunities for high-potential women across Canada and internationally. Since 1997, 728 remarkable women have been honoured. 

  • Jenny Gulamani-Abdulla: The immigration consultant and president of Gulamani-Abdulla & Co. received the honour for her executive leadership and contributions to the community under the RBC Champion Award category.
  • Janice Odegaard: Senior vice-president and general counsel for Suncor Energy, Odegaard was honoured in the Scotiabank Corporate Executives Award category, which recognizes innovative and strategic leadership resulting in enhanced corporate performance.
  • Marie Delorme: A consultant and CEO of The Imagination Group, Delorme received the Glencore Trailblazers and Trendsetters Award, given to innovative pioneers who navigate new territory and lead by example.
