This university publishing house is located in Calgary, Alberta, and on October 22, 2010, it became an Open Access press. More than 70 titles have been published and offered under Creative Commons License with “Grey Matters, a Guide For Collaborative Research” being the first open source book that was offered as part of “Open Access Week” in 2010.

The goal of books is to provide an in-depth analysis of the research that was done for the creation of any release. Topics that are included motivate people to think and express their point of view allowing the conversation to move forward. The University of Calgary has been established in 1944 as a branch of the University of Alberta that has been created in 1908. Its full autonomy came in 1966, and today it has 14 faculties and more than 85 various centers and research institutes. The northwest quadrant is the location that was chosen for the main campus while the city center hosts a smaller south campus.
