The word curriculum from the Latin word ‘currere’ - means a roadmap through an educational process. At the University of Calgary, the curriculum review process was implemented with the goal of improving teaching and learning through a clear emphasis on articulating, aligning and assessing learning outcomes.
During this interactive workshop, you will become acquainted to the big picture of curriculum in higher education and the curriculum review process at the University of Calgary. Components of the curriculum will be examined, and you will learn how to use them to identify where your course is located within a program through curriculum mapping and alignment.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Explain the meaning of curriculum and the different types
- Describe the curriculum review process at the University of Calgary
- Map and align a hypothetical curriculum from learnings
