Effective Communication in Teaching and Learning for International Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Scholars: Part 1

In this interactive session you will be introduced to the University of Calgary’s teaching and learning environment and invited to consider communication strategies that you can implement in various aspects of your TA or teaching role. We will explore characteristics of a U of C classroom environment, and strategies to engage students, communicate concepts, and ask and answer questions effectively. This workshop will provide you the opportunity to develop and practice new strategies, meet people, and build your confidence.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

· Describe the key features of a UCalgary learning environment

· Identify and practice ways to engage students, communicate concepts and deal with questions in the classroom

This workshop can be used toward the 2017-2018 Emerging Teachers Development Program.

This is a My GradSkills endorsed workshop.
