Contemplative approaches to helping you and your students self-regulate.
Here is an oasis in the midst of mid-term stress. A chance to engage in some Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction practice through attentional awareness, grounding the body, and breathing. Learn strategies along with handouts and scripts you can use for bringing mindfulness into your classroom to help your students self-regulate during times of stress through simple guided mindfulness techniques. Listening meditations, guided imagery, mindful reflective writing, and chair yoga are some of the techniques we will explore.
The Contemplative Pedagogy Community of Practice (CPCoP) meets on the first Wednesday of each month from 10 am - 12 pm. Opportunities to consult, be mentored, and observe teaching demonstrations and more are possible and to be determined by the CoP. The CPCoP is now in its second year, and growing in breadth and depth. Be a part of this exciting and transformative process!
