BrainsmoothiesTM is a program of arts-based, wellness, and mindfulness exercises created by Brittany Harker Martin, local arts educator and Assistant Professor of Leadership at the Werklund School of Education. In this 5-Part series, come sample arts-based experiences designed to shift your focus away from schedules, to-do lists, and deadlines into a more visual, deliberative, and present state of mind. No artistic talent or experience required!
Come experience simple but engaging exercises that free the mind, and will leave with a toolkit of supplies and techniques to infuse mindfulness into your teaching practice. Choose your preferred timeslot (Mornings or Afternoon), and come explore the art supplies and discover how to facilitate these techniques with your own students.
This program is funded by a University of Calgary Campus Mental Health Strategy Grant and hosted by the Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning, therefore open to anyone who is directly involved with teaching and learning at the University of Calgary.
